Staff Accountant, Audit description:
As a Staff Accountant, Audit, you will work in-person as part of a team of professionals who are committed to delivering quality service. You will be working on large employee benefit plan engagements in a variety of industries, which includes multi-employer employee benefit plans. In addition, you will work on not-for-profit audit engagements of sponsor unions. Training and ongoing education is a high priority and includes both in-house training sessions and attending seminars and conferences.
The responsibilities as a Staff Accountant, Audit will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of audit engagements, including all phases of a financial statement audit, audit fieldwork, and completion of work papers, to support the execution of a high-quality audit.
- Understand and apply Baratz & Associates, P.A.’s audit methodology while preparing clear well-structured and effective audit documentation.
- Participate in client and engagement team interactions in a professional manner including properly conveying information gathered from the client to the engagement team.
- Identify and communicate potential issues and opportunities for audit efficiencies and process improvement to Senior Associates, Managers, and Partners.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college/university; obtain 150 credits toward the CPA licensure and be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
- A public accounting internship, audit & assurance services preferred.
- A plan for obtaining CPA license.
- Strong computer skills, knowledge of Thomson Reuters products is a plus.
- Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures.
- Adhere to the firm's values and code of conduct.
- Ability and willingness to travel locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred Cumulative GPA: 3.3
- Preferred Finance degree or extensive knowledge of investments
- Preferred Knowledge Areas: Higher level knowledge of investments, understand the difference of mutual funds, separate accounts, and collective investment trust investments.
